21st January 2007 Windsurfing: Ynyslas Estuary Wind Direction: W Wind Stength: 25-35 knots Surf / Sea State: Flat Air Temperature: 8ºC Sea Temperature: 10ºC Weather: Sunny Max Speed: 28.9 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 17.2 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Another lovely early session in the estuary. Most of my sailign these days is fairly hectic wave-sailing so I'd forgotten how nice a decent blast on flat water can be. Well powered with my 5m (although there wasn't enough in the lee of the dunes) and a nice range of water conditions, choppy in places, rolling swell in others and nice and smooth elsewhere. Had some really nice speed runs that felt stupidly fast, but I only actually achieved a max sped of 28.9 knots (only!). No one else out and the tide was high so I had the whole estuary to myself. Nice long reaches from the car aprk at Ynyslas all the way across to the beach at Aberdovey. |
